When we came we only purchased one way tickets since we didn't know how long we would be staying. Our tickets here cost us ~$2500 for the two of us. We only booked around a week in advance so it might have been a last minute sale.
When flying to Australia there are a few options, they are all shit. We had 16hrs of flight time on the way here and I pretty much had a nervous breakdown by the time we landed. Four months later, I am dreading the flight home.
We have been watching the prices on flights home and they were ~$4500 for both of us..... 4500?!?!?! We expected them to be similar to our tickets here. We were certainly wrong. I don't want to pay that much!!!!
Then my in laws stepped in. They were considering coming to visit us the last week we are here and we could all fly home together. I was excited about that, I like them. They wanted to book using airmiles and also book our flights back so we could be on the same ones. They guess they have A LOT of airmiles. Apparently fate would not have it... there was no way they could come on airmiles but they booked our flights home for us. Totally unexpected, completely unthinkable, incredibly generous, that is how I describe my inlaws. When we get back we will be spending some big $$$$ getting our life setup again.
The only thing we needed to book was a flight from the gold coast to sydney. It ended up being $200 for both of us... cheap. I am getting more excited to come home now, fingers crossed there won't be any snow!
